Electrochemical Ozone Generation Using Compacted High Pressure High Temperature Synthesized Boron Doped Diamond Microparticle Electrodes

Electrochemical ozone production (EOP) from water is an attractive, green technology for disinfection. Boron doped diamond (BDD) electrodes, grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD), have been widely adopted EOP due to their wide anodic window in and excellent electrochemical stability. High pressure high temperature (HPHT) synthesis, alternative growth technique used predominantly the high-volume synthesis of nitrogen microparticles, has seldom employed conductive BDD electrodes. In this paper, we demonstrate, first time, use electrodes fabricated HPHT microparticles EOP. The are compacted produce freestanding solid then laser micromachined a perforated electrode. microparticle shown exhibit EOP, producing 2.23 ± 0.07 mg L −1 per ampere current, at consistent levels continuous 20 h period with no drop off performance. also achieve reasonable current efficiency 23%, density 770 mA cm −2 .
